Peep Through (interactive installation)
In this work, I try to play with the idea of pushing beyond the flat surface of the canvas and invite the viewer to participate in the experience.
However, unlike the slash canvas work of Lucio Fontana, there is no void beyond the holes that I create in these layered canvases which hang in layers one in front of the other. As one explores, one uncovers another layer, and then another. The holes start out small and get larger as one travels through each one. The last canvas is a collage made from the cutouts of the previous layers.
This playfulness of discovery with an unexpected final result is something I like to explore in my work.
